Creative Microsystems Corporation exists to develop New Technologies to expand our ability to See, Communicate and Comprehend

We strive to be sustainable by recognizing and respecting the contributions of each employee and (persisting) as a positive role in the community

Creative Microsystems Corporation (CMC) was originally founded in Waitsfield, Vermont by MIT Media Lab graduates Bill and Julie Parker. The objective was to develop advanced technologies, based on diffractive optics and holography. Since that time the company has branched out into a wide range of technologies and missions.

CMC is a high-technology, research and development company with a 30-year history as the vanguard of advancement in photonics and micro-electronics, with broad range scientific expertise in optical systems, holographic and diffractive optics, augmented reality, optical communication systems, micro-displays, microlithography, micro-electronics, advanced materials, chemistry and life sciences.  This diverse skill set supports a multi-disciplinary approach to problems that often results in technologically significant solutions and intellectual property.

State-of-the-art engineering and fabrication capabilities in a 12,000 sq. ft. facility allow technical challenges to grow from initial idea through proof of concept, prototyping and pilot production, an efficient path from concept to commercialization. CMC applies sophisticated production technologies, such as high-volume holographic and diffractive optics and development tools for software, firmware and hardware.

Julie Parker

Co-owner, co-founder and President. As a student at the University of Vermont, Julie obtained an art degree along with a physics degree. While studying the physics of color and light, working in the holography laboratory brought these two interest together which led her to MIT which was the only school in the US that had a graduate program in display holography at that time. Following her studies in the Spatial Imaging Group, her 3D imaging, holography and computer graphics inspiring her to found the CMC predecessor company Diffraction.

Bill Parker

Co-owner, co-founder, CEO and Director of Technology of CMC. Following his graduate studies at the MIT Architecture Machine Group, Bill helped found the CMC predecessor company Diffraction LTD, along with the ubiquitous plasma ball, Bill is the inventor a number of lab-on-a-chip, biomedical devices, micro/nanotechnology manufacturing processes, semiconductor devices, holographic lithography techniques, 3D Heads-up displays, optical systems, electro-holography and switchable diffraction structures. His research has recently focused on the development of Augmented Reality and AI technologies for broad range of applications in the government and public sectors. He was the founder, co-founder or a principal investor of seven companies that altogether have raised over $100 million in private capital.
